descriptionICC Men’s Team Rankings Details

The ICC Team Rankings utilize a specific rating method, initially developed by David Kendix, to order international cricket teams. This system ranks men's teams across Test, One-Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20I) formats. It also ranks women's teams competing in One-Day International and Twenty20 International cricket.

The rating for each team is calculated using a straightforward formula: the total points scored by the team are divided by their match/series total (the total number of matches or series considered relevant within the ranking period). The final rating is presented as the nearest whole number.

A helpful way to understand this calculation is to compare it to a cricket batting average. In this analogy, the points scored correspond to the total runs scored by a batter, while the match/series total is akin to the number of times the batter has been dismissed.
