The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Men's selection panel has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies, starting on October 02. Notably, on the expected lines, the axe has fallen on Karun Nair after his dismal returns in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he managed just one 50 in eight innings. The right-hand batter, who begged for one more chance on social media, will yet again have to go back to the domestic grind.
Rishabh Pant, who is yet to recover from a foot injury, is also not selected, as BCCI has named Dhruv Jurel as Pant's replacement and Narayan Jagadeesan as the backup wicketkeeper-batter. With pitches in India expected to offer spin and turn, the Agarkar-led panel has named four spinners. Axar Patel, who was overlooked for the England Test series, has been recalled in the squad. In Nair's absence, Devdutt Padikkal has earned a recall after showing good form in the domestic season.
