MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are already knocked out of IPL 2025. They have been one of the three teams to have been officially eliminated from the tournament.

Along with CSK, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have also been eliminated. The last of CSK's three wins came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before the league was suspended for a week by the BCCI.

With the league resuming from May 17, CSK play their final two games against RR (May 20) and Gujarat Titans (GT) May 25.

CSK Won Just Twice Under MS Dhoni This Season

Former SRH coach Tom Moody, in a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, spoke about CSK's campaign so far and also about MS Dhoni. With how CSK went about their campaign this year, there are already talks about the franchise thinking about next year. However, Moody said that the fire inside Dhoni is starting to flicker.

"Every team is a mirror of their leaders, and he is such a significant leader, and has been for so long. We all have a fire inside of us, and at times we need to recognize when that is starting to flicker, and if not, go out. I just don't know whether what I am seeing is correct, but certainly my observation is that the spark is not there that I have seen in previous years," Tom Moody said on ESPN Cricinfo.

Since Dhoni took over as captain after Ruturaj Gaikwad's injury, CSK won just two games. Dhoni was asked about his future after Chennai's win over Kolkata on May 7. He said that he will decide on his future after this edition is over.

"A lot of them don't know when it is going to be my last time (smiles), so they want to come and see me play. There is no escaping the fact (that I am in the last phase of my career). After this IPL gets over, I have to work hard for another 6-8 months to see if my body can take this pressure. Nothing to decide now but the love and affection I have seen is excellent," MS Dhoni said during the post-match presentation (via ESPN Cricinfo).
